The founder of Diamond Tennis Academy has been coaching since 2000. Sena’s experience in the sport and passion for getting people to play tennis led to the formation of Diamond Tennis Academy in 2006 – after more than a decade, the academy’s links and initiatives with the local community are prominent and continue to develop.

Sena holds a UKCC Level 5 award (Master Club Coach qualification), an Economic and Social Studies degree from Cardiff University and a Professional Practise in Tennis Coaching Management degree from the University of Northumbria. A frequent competitor in tournaments in the South Wales area in his younger days, Sena still enjoys a game of singles.

Administrative and Marketing Assistant: Rachel Bolton

Rachel joined our Admin team back in May, with a background in Marketing along with teaching she is a regular on court with our Tots groups too. She has been a keen tennis player from a young age and will be completing her level 1 coaching this year.


The Coaching Team

 

Coach: Henry Dawson

Henry is a UKCC Level 2 coach (as of November 2017) with aspirations to achieve UKCC Level 3 in the future. A Sports Performance & Excellence student who joined Diamond Tennis Academy through our training scheme with Cardiff and Vale College, he also enjoys coaching football and cricket (and competes in the Glamorgan & Monmouthshire Cricket League).

Coach: Nabeel Iqbal

Nabeel is an LTA accredited Level 2 Coach, with more than 4 years coaching experience. Nabeel has been playing tennis since he was 3 years old, and has competed in tournaments at both club and county level.

Outside of tennis Nabeel studies Engineering at Cardiff University and is a keen long distance runner.

Coach: Joe Richards

Joe is an Education and PE at Cardiff Metropolitan graduate, and studied tennis coaching for his degree. He has played tennis from a young age at club level and still enjoys competing now. Joe is currently studying an MSc in Strength and Conditioning, as well as tennis he enjoys numerous other sports, especially rugby. Joe’s first language is Welsh.

Coaching Assistant: Jack Lake

Coach Jack Lake

Jack holds a UKCC Level 2 coaching qualification and, after starting his education in tennis early, has more than three years experience as a volunteer and coach. A keen tennis player, Jack competes in local tournaments and assists the coaching staff at Diamond when he is not studying away from Cardiff.
