Diamond Tennis Academy works closely with local schools to give their pupils a chance to try tennis, the opportunity to benefit from coaching by professional tennis coaches, and help in setting up competitions. We have helped these schools develop a tennis programme, which has assisted them in setting up and maintaining school tennis teams.
All players attending our after-school clubs are assessed within a few weeks on their performance and ability to pick up the skills and techniques taught to them, after which those completing the assessment successfully are promoted to our Club Improver sessions. This guarantees that they are always coached alongside other players of the same ability, with courses tailored to their speed and level of development. This can be illustrated with the example of one of our most active members, who began learning with us 2 years ago: Akash started at one of our after-school tennis clubs in September 2011. Akash attended the school club for 2 terms before being promoted to the Level 2 sessions. Akash then decided to attend both the After School Club and Level 2 session. He did this for the remainder of the 2011/2012 school term. In September 2012 Akash swapped the After School Club for two Level 2 sessions. He showed continuous improvement and development Akash now attends the Level 3 sessions as well as Match play sessions. This structure of progression can be understood better by referring to this flowchart. If you would like us to work with your school, or for more information about what we can offer, including a free taster day and an after school club, please feel free to contact us so we can make arrangements for you. A yearly tournament can also be organised. We hold after school clubs at the following schools:
- Birchgrove (years 1 and 2)
- Rhydypenau (years 2, and 3)
